Foot Fans

One of the great things with sewing is that there are a lot of tools, in the way of feet, to help you create. Over time I will show how to use many of the feet. The first item of business is a list of feet. The list includes all the machines I own, the feet part numbers as best I can find and what machines they will work on.

Here is the list of feet:

I will go through the list of feet as time goes on. Stay tuned!

News of the Bs (Brother/Babylock)

May 1, 2023

Recent news from Babylock says that an additional Design Suite of fills and motifs is on the way. Design Suite 1 contained fills and motifs for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Winter-Christmas and New Year. I’ll keep you posted on the release date.

In the Brother world Cindy Hogan of Cynthia’s Embroidery released design sets of fills and motifs for Spring and Summer.

The fills and motifs can be used in the Luminaire 3/Solaris 3 (Vision) or pulled into PEDesign 11/Palette 11 to create background quilting. Better watch out though. This can be so much fun playing, you can lose yourself.

Brother News

Brother has come out with a lot of cool things over the last year. One of the coolest things is the Artspira app. It works only on mobile devices. It does work on both Apple (iphone, ipad) and Android devices. It does not work on the computer.

This app does a weekly magazine of projects. The projects use designs in the app, both embroidery designs and Scan N Cut designs. You have to have an embroidery machine with wireless capabilities. The complete list of machines that can use Artspira is located here https://www.brother.eu/-/media/product-downloads/bsme/uk/artspira-comp-list-en.pdf?la=en&rev=78204731825241ee89f149078c31e410&hash=ABE9E4A1F16E23B8B5DF9598EAB8F8D9A55D250F&_ga=2.115512902.1539929961.1681597655-249665389.1681597655

To see more about the Artspira app go to the Brother Craft Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@BrotherCrafter). There are several videos on using the app.

Welcome and Introduction

My name is Patti Hamel. I have been sewing since I was seven and we are not going to say how long ago that is. 🙂

I love to sew. I have always sewn clothing. I learned to tissue fit to a certain extent when I was young, but I am now learning how to do that better.

I love to do machine embroidery. I pretty much will embroider on anything that will sit still long enough. I like to do a lot of wall hangings using both tile scenes and individual embroidery designs.

I am learning to quilt. I thought for years that I hated quilting. Over the last couple of years, I realized that I don’t hate quilting … just certain types of quilts. I like quilts that are colorful and non-traditional.

My goal is to show what I make and explain both my successes and failures. I want show how to do things with my sewing and embroidery machines, which are predominantly Brother machines. I don’t know exactly where this journey is going to take me, but I invite you along with me. I hope to make this fun and informative. And the most important thing about sewing, embroidery and quilting …. DONE is better than PERFECT! 🙂

Welcome to my space!
